If you're in Le Havre on the beach side of the port where all the eating places are, be careful and don't leave anything removeable on the bike. We stopped there for lunch yesterday on our way back to the ferry and although we parked only 25 yards away and we could see the bike while we ate, our helmets and gloves were gone when we walked back. The thieving scum must have a pretty slick system to be in and out so fast. Cost an arm and a leg for new kit. Fortunately some fellow Brit's lent us helmets so we could go and find a shop.

We've been to France lots of times and never had a problem, but from now on, however inconvenient, I'm carrying *everything* away with me when I park.

A timely 'Heads up' ahead of the summer :thumb2 - not particularly about Le Havre - but the inconvenience of losing your skid lid.

Lucky you were able to borrow a lid or it would have been a long taxi ride.

sorry to hear about gettin ya stuff nicked off ya bike...............but to be honest i would never leave anything on my bike.........no matter where i was...........:(

stolen

It's the immigrants that most probably nicked your stuff,le harve and Dieppe have a terrible problem with them,I ship back from Dieppe fairly regular and every lorry literally has to have an escort down the ramp to load consisting of about ten guards with nasty looking dogs to get on the ship, and they still manage to get on board.
We are even helping to keep watch now, specially on the night boat loading by blasting our horns to get attention from the guards and letting them know what lorries they are trying to get on to.
