Left indicator won't cancel

Just got back from France and did the last 500 miles with the cancel button gaffer-taped on as the left indicator won't cancel.

The left indicator button/flap itself seems to have lost it's return spring as it's just "hanging" and there's no resistance when you press it.

Anyone else had a similar problem?

Is it possible to dismantle the switch (before I try) or will I need a new (and no doubt very expensive) one?

Right indicator is fine and is cancelled by the cancel switch. Hazard warnings also work OK.

Cheers

Welcome bvack Dick.

Can't help with your problem - other tahn to suggest that you keep turning left, and that it probably means a new part that is half the price in France :D

Hope someone else can be of more help,

Iain

Dick don't worry, your bike is just trying to make a political stance.:)

Great, I've got the only Socialist Workers' GS in the world.:D

As I didn't get any sensible suggestions I attempted to dismantle the switch and couldn't get further than removing a couple of screws and trying to prise off the cover but it appeared to be held on by another fixing that I couldn't find. Strangely enough when I clicked the cover back in place the indicator switch had regained it's "spring" and is now working OK.

Hmm......

Just had my left switch replaced (after 45k). Knackered microswitch I think ... didn't feel right (sic) for a while, then stuck on, then died.

Might be a weak link.
