60 csx new card

Hi all,
I put a new 1g card into my garmin, intending to transfer loads of map, but nothing is happening, computer is not recognising the device, and wants me to install disc? i am not well up on this stuff, but should i format the card or something? went into the system on the garmin and it says i have 998 free storage.

it can take up to a 2GB card just like that!
and it always seem to nibble a piece off memory - go figure!!

What is not getting recongised, the garmin unit when connected to PC or the card when it's in the Garmin ?

if it's the Garmin you may need to reload the Garmin USB drivers that came with the unit ?

if it the card not being recongnised properly in the garmin unit if you have a card reader or some other device that take the same card try it in that, you may have a duff card it's rare but happens.
