Man 1 has an idea, perhaps not a clue but an idea, well yes. Man 2 makes it happen. Over 500 K of narrow twisting gravel strewn roads and a good share of unpaved track. Man what a weekend, what weather. It's been a strange summer; it happened in April & Sept?
I'll allow the photos tell the story; thanks Daithi for delegating - abdicating?
Thanks Grumpy for delivering.

Great pics Gerry, looks like a good time was had by all :D

What's that one doing lurking in the trees :augie

Mandy

Not what you might think but then who am I to suppose what you'd be thinking?
He took to the off road thing big time; looks like he'll be writing to Santa for a HP2. I'll leave you with an on road shot and him with his serious face on.

Yeah he was telling me he really enjoyed the off road yesterday and today.
Santa will need more than a request written on a piece of paper ;)

till next time.

It was a sh1te weekend !!! :thedummy

:hide

Too much sun, too many bends, too much scenery & way too many tossers :augie:augie

Having said that, I quite enjoyed it ;)
Well done to Daithi for suggesting / posting the run & a huge 'thank you' to the Grumpy fella for executing it so well :clap:clap

Aidan & bb1 came to my place on Friday evening & after a quick cuppa we set off south. A good brisk run on a lovely late summers evening with only one fuel / cig stop brought us to the southern capital by 8.30. Daithi joined us shortly after arrival & we had a bit of dinner together. After watching the rugby the langer headed home & we went to bed.

Saturday morning dawned clear & bright in the city but it was a bit misty in the hills for the first hour or so until the sun burnt it off. This mornings group consisted of the 3 of us, Grumpy (who cheated by turning up on a TTR :nono), Daithi, Padge, Willsuds, DaveR & GerryC. Gunner turned up on the HP2 to wave us off ;)

We spent 9 hours on the bikes on Saturday with a lunch stop in Millstreet & a few (grudgingly allowed) cig stops :augie. We covered almost 250km of which a large proportion was tracks. In addition to the tracks across the hills & bogs Grumpy had also arranged access to some private stuff :clap

Saturday evening saw the non-Cork contingent in the Muskerry Arms, Blarney which was our abode for the night. It's clean & pleasant with friendly staff & good food. After a long shower to get rid of some of the dust I joined the others in the bar for a drink before we all, plus Daithi, had the grub. Aidan insisted we have a wee constitutional before turning in so we walked down to the castle & back again before hitting the hay.

A few pics :)

Sunday

We lost Willsuds & DaveR off Sundays run as both had other commitments. But we gained De Crowe, Gunner & Yiri, a friend of Padges.

Once again we were out all day covering about 280km of minor roads & boreens in West Cork & Kerry. We did Priests Leap, Bunone (?) Valley, Barley Lake & the highest pub in Ireland (allegedly ;)) among others. We finished up about 6.30 just west of Cork City from where we all went our seperate ways.

As has already been said many thanks to Daithi and the grumpy one for a top weekend.Could only stay for Sat but a really enjoyable spin through some fab scenery with good company and brilliant sunshine :clap:clap

Great Pics guys and looks like great weather (I didn't go because I'd booked a place at the Astronomy Ireland annual open night and we were covered in clouds the whole time )

Now, I see one bike 'taking a rest on its side' so far. Is that it??? Have you guys suddenly learned to stay upright??

First off, I deserve no credit whatsoever for the run, but thanks anyway.

Thank you very much Jimmy for what is my brand new best weekend on a bike. :clap:beerjug::thumb2

The pic below is where I had a massive off and some UNSCRUPULOUS tosser had to take a pic.

Bastward !

And here's the man we have to blame for the lousey weather and the crappy spin. :clap

2KIF_531162.jpg

The scenery was spectacular, massive distance covered without seeing any tarmac.

2KIF_531144.jpg

Obviously too much for some, you'll be pleased to hear he made a full recovery.
KIF_5366.jpg

But this poor man was not so lucky. :( .................. :D
2KIF_531128.jpg

No stopping the the big fella, like a duck to water.
2KIF_53116.jpg

Jimmy even provided the select few with a bit of extreme off road.
Was Padge's bike on the side-stand ? ? ? ?

KIF_5431.jpg

It was a teriffic weekend with grins on all the faces, again thanks James.

And thanks to all who did either or both days, with comiserations to the lads who missed it.

FECKIN GREAT WEEKEND. :clap

How to describe the weekend?
...Perfection...

The recipe:
One Day of Off road trails, melted together seamlessly
One Day of the most scenic roads in the country
A gaggle of the finest tossers
Garnished with the best weather of the year.

Served up by master chef Jimmy and all organsied by Tosser concierge Daithi.

Just fantastic.

Few shots of the priests leap & DeCrowe gazing over barley lake.
