I've got new 12-point nuts (ouch!) for the bevel box to swingarm joint on my G/S. The clearance between the nuts and the side of swingarm is too tight to get my ring spanner or socket onto them.

I know one answer is 'the same way you got them off' but the old nuts were very corroded and marked for replacement, so came off with the usual combination of brute force and swearing  ! Even without powercoat on top, the clearance was too tight.

I did look at the 6-point nuts sold by Motorworks but sent them back, as the sides looked very thin for such an important job! I haven't found any special tools flogged by MW or Motobins to do the job.

Can anyone recommend a particular tool (and its supplier) to sort this? I assume I'm looking for either a thin-walled socket or an open-ended 12-point ring spanner, but I'm drawing a blank tracking one down :(

Many thanks :beerjug:

I ground the back down on the back of my ring spanner so that it was thin enough to fit over the nut.

Thanks for the advice chaps :thumb2 :bow

I'll get busy grinding my ring

The 'to do' list is getting shorter..... :green gri
