A word of warning to you all. I'm experiencing severe customer service problems with this company wanted to let people know.

I bought a zumo 550 from this company a couple of days before taking my bike to europe. The ball joint on the ram mount (to garmin cradle) broke on installation. I contacted the company via email (they refuse to deal with problems on the phone) and was issued a return number and a collection date for when I returned. There was a lot of to-ing and fro-ing on email and in the end they suggested I return just the ball joint and await replacement. So far so good.

On the specified return date nobody turned up. I waited a few days with no success and eventually sent the part back via recorded delivery (on their advice). Nothing happened. After a week or so I got in touch again to ask where my replacement was (they claim to sort out faults within 72 hours).

No reply.

After a few days I received an email apologising for the delay and explaining that they'd been taken over by expansys and this had slowed things down - but they expected to have everything sorted within a week. A week went by, no return. I phoned them. I was told that things were taking a bit longer but were being dealt with.

Still nothing.

Since then I have phoned them on repeated occasions, asked to be called back which no-one has ever done despite assurances that they would, everyone I speak to claims they'll look into it but I never hear from them again.

I bought this unit in mid-August. It's now mid November and I still can't use this thing on the bike.

Any advice from consumer eagles out there would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

If you paid by credit card, as it is over £100 you could take it up with them. It won't help to get a new ball joint but you might be able to get some of your money back.

I would have just gone a bought myself a new ram mount, then If/when the replacement arrives you have a spare.

I would not wait 4 months to use something for the sake of a couple of quid.

FWIW.. the parts in the kit, either RAM-B-309-7 is the cast bracket which gets calmp into the bike or the RAM-B-202 round base which attaches onto the Garmin cradle plus the arm.

I am not responsible to sort it, as its a matter between supplying dealer (GloPos) who took your money and of course, the manufacturer, Garmin. A call or email to Garmin may help.

But, if you still had everything and were a site sponsor here, you could have 'pm' me and I could have sent you and part and this would have been sorted weeks ago

Call me naiive but I wasn't aware the part was available separately. Thanks RAM-MAN, it is the round disc which attaches to the cradle, my site sponsorship has slipped.

Thanks everybody,

Finally got through to their returns manager today and am assured that a ball joint's gone in the post. But if it doesn't turn up I'll make use of the advice and links!!

cheers again:beerjug:

I've had heaps of trouble with It kit bought from Expansys - shipped the wrong cables, then you have to fix the returns by email and they will only take returns of everything, not just the parts in error. I ended up just buying new cables and making a mental note not to deal with them EVER again.

If the GPS company have been bought by them I'd steer clear.

expansys

One word on Expansys customer service, CRAP,Unhelpful, Blunt ok, thats 3 but i could get carried away :(

Their customer service was sh!t before they got taken over. I live 2 miles down the road from them and have bought stuff and collected it from them but trying to get any info on products over't phone was hopeless. Saying that out of 5 transactions with GPSW 4 of them have been total feck-ups as well. Anyone fancy setting up a competent, customer friendly GPS specialists :D
