there shouldn't be any problems (other than the usual fiddling about). I haven't put them on mine yet as the BWM heated grips have to go!
Choose the profile of bars you want, ie higher, wider, pulled back etc, or some the same profile if you're happy with the standard ones.
Things to consider though, are any additional width or height is going to use up slack in your cables/brake line.

so if you want to keep the heated grips , you can't change the bars ?
The BWM heated grips run their wiring 'through' the bars.
I also haven't heard of anyone getting them off without knackering them.
But nothing to stop you buying another set!
I'm waiting til I bend my standard bars before I bolt on some Renthals. (they've stood up petty well so far - my bikes no stranger to lying on its side
)

Have a chat with Ricardo Kuhn. He sells Pro Tapers to fit the 11xxGS and re-works them to accept the heated grips. This includes very detailed instructions on how to transfer heated grips from the OE bars to the Pro-Tapers. I'm sure he'd be able to give you some guidance on how to do it....
