Posted up a short while back re the chain taking chunks out of the side of my rear tyre. Had a chat with giantbaby, who suggested fitting a 2007 SM chain guide. Parts ordered and then time to get my hands dirty. First thing is to remove the chain, front sprocket and then the old guide. Tip no 1 here. Undo the sprocket before removing the chain ;) Then remove the old guide. Tip no 2, after you have used an impact driver to undo the made of cheese cross headed screws, throw the remains in the bin. Tip no 3. Have new sprocket to hand by pre ordering from thoese nice friendly and very efficent www.wemoto.com people. Mine was getting a bit hooked.

Now to the new chain guide, its a first class job but does need Noddyifying to fit. The difference between the S and the SM swinging arm and the area to be Noddified is shown in the high quality technical drawing.
I used a 1mil cutting disc in a 115mil angle gringer to melt rather than cut, but it did the job. Bit of a clean up after with a single edge blade and its a good fit.

Cheesie screws replaced with proper allen bolts into the original threaded holes, new sprocket fitted and a nice new Gregs o ring chain on and the jobs done. Thanks for the tip scotty. :thumb Now back to Italy in a couple of weeks to play in the Dolomites. :D
