It's my birthday coming up and I quite fancy a set of the narrow City Cases for my GS - I think they look better than a topbox

Any idea who sells them and how much they'd be?

Also, anyone know how wide they are once fitted?

Aren't the city cases just the ordinary 'system case'? - but with a shallower lid.

Motorworks sell them as a complete set (ex holder/rack) from £308 or if you want them 'keyed' to your ignition £322

size would be around 25cm per side. (maybe slightly less)

I believe that would make them narrower once fitted than the cylinders.

There`s a pair of new City lids in my loft. :augie

They make the standard System panniers a hell of a lot narrower.

Are the main bodies of the City Cases the same size as the standard system panniers then?

Is it only the lid that's different or do the 'official' City Cases have narrower main bodies too?

Its only the lids which are different so if you have standard panniers you can change at lids at will.

With the lids you get a cute little internal divider to keep your files, folders and porn seperate - which is always useful. :thumb

TBH the city lids are only useful for carrying a packed lunch. paperwork, maybe a laptop.. there's not a lot of space for much else.

That's all I;m after - I just prefer the look of them to a big bulky topbox - I only need to carry a rain suit, disc lock and a couple of bungies day-to-day anyway.

Thanks for your advice folks!

Wide as the pannier without the lid ...

With the City lids on the pannier is only fractionally wider than the bit fixed on the bike, which will give you some idea of what will go in. They do give a bit more confidence filtering through traffic and will take the things you mention. I could get a soft laptop bag in mine, small briefcase or other files/folders. I bought the lids from Motorworks a while back - you have to drill out the rivets on the existing lids and then use narrow bolts and wingnuts - cheap from a hardware shop. You can then switch from wide to narrow lids to suit. If you do drill out the rivets, just be careful that they don't get too hot and melt the surrounding plastic on the lid/base before they come out! Don't ask me how I know :blast.

I generally use a top box now - agree they look awful.

Cheers,

Psyko.
