Now this is going to sound really stupid .....

Change the spark plug - I took the tank off and got to the head, the spark plug is set in a really long way, so far that I cant find any of my SP spanners to get to it - Is there a "special" tool , or is there a knack / trick to doing this.

And whilst I am here ... I bought an NGK CR8EIX (4218) plug of ebay - said it was for a DRZ400 S - The thread looks really long - can anyone advise if this is the right plug.

Sorry about the numpty questions! :blast

Plug socket on an extension bar did the trick for me - get a socket with a rubber ring in it to grip the plug and weich it out. Dunno about the thread length - check it with the exisiting one (when you get it out...)

I just bought a plug for mine today . The Suzuki dealer gave me a CR8E too however mine is a 1275:thumb

And mine was over £6 if that makes you feel better:thumb2

You need suzuki part no; 400-37172-07 this is the special spark plug tool for the Drz.
It fits over the recess forming a seal as you turn the top anti clockwise (as if undoing) it un tightens the plug and creates a vacumn that lifts the plug out of its thread.
Top bit of kit
