The route of the trip: Riga – Helsinki – Roviniemi – Inari - Kirkiness – roads and pathless places of Polar tundra - Murmansk – Lovozersko – Seidozero - Khibini – Varzuga – Salla – Suomisalmi – Helsinki – Riga.
The duration of the expedition:
Total duration of the expedition: 20 days including spare day;
Enduro section in the Kola Peninsula: 13 days including spare day.
The length of the routes:
All routes of the expedition: approximately 5,000 km;
Enduro section in the Kola Peninsula: approximately 1,650 km;
Including non-asphalted roads and pathless: approximately 950 km;
Boating section: approximately 45 km.
On foot: approximately 10 km.
The number of participants:
Maximum of 10 people
Staying overnight:
Camping houses, vezha, (like a wigwam, but suitable for living in arctic) fishery hovels and hotels, and 2 nights in tents.
The Arctic Ocean, the tundra, the desert, the White Sea, mountain-passes, fjords of the streams and rivers, reindeers and unique natural landscapes. In a word: experience riding a motorbike and have ever lasting impressions of this beautiful land...
The highlights of the trip:
- The photo of the group before a 5,000 km long marathon rich in experiences through Finland and the Kola Peninsula;
- Pass of Arctic boundary and meeting with Santa Claus;
- Meeting with participants of the expedition adjoining to a group in Inari;
- Overnight stay in tents on the coast of the Arctic Ocean;
- The first hard pathless going along sopkas of tundra area on the North of Kola Peninsula;
- Boating along Lovozero Lake, hiking to Seidozero, and the legendary and ancient cult place of Saams;
- Riding up to mountain peaks in the tundra mountain massif of Lovozersk;
- A two day trip past the road of geologists along the foothills of Lovozersk mountain massif with countless fjords of streams and rivers;
- Overnight stay in the middle of taiga;
- The day of rest in the hotel of rescuers based in Khibini mountain massif, sauna, mountain-pass of Umbozersk, waterfalls;
- The trip through a road marked in the map but forgotten for many years from Oktyabrsk to the White Sea;
- Overnight stay in Saams vezha on deer skins (similar to a Native American wigwam but suitable for living in the North);
- Riding along the coast of the White Sea, along the low tide area of the White Sea;
- Overnight stay in restored tonya – fishermen hovel;
- Riding through the Northern most sand desert in the world.
Recently, the Kola Peninsula was still a fully closed territory. Currently, it is partly opened for travelers, but the situation is frequently changing. New regime territories are created and roads have become impassable. And while we will do everything possible to overcome any obstacle, it may be required we will need to alter the routes and choose other roads then those that were previously planned.
