LIVE AT THE CASTLE

Carrickfergus Castle 2009

Friday 28th & Saturday 29th August

ON SALE NOW

Carrickfergus Castle has indeed seen its fair share of visitors throughout the ages and now it is set to be the venue for Northern Ireland’s newest music festival with headliners STATUS QUO and JOOLS HOLLAND & HIS RHYTHM & BLUES ORCHESTRA

Jools Holland & His Rhythm & Blues Orchestra will headline on Friday the 28th August, while veteran Rockers Status Quo will be closing the show on Saturday the 29th August and all proceedings will take place in the historic shadows of the magnificent Carrickfergus Castle..

The musical pedigree of Mr Jools Holland, best known for his top rated BBC 2 show, will be bringing the big band delights of his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, featuring some of the tightest musicians in the world. He’ll be joined on stage by the legendary guitarist Dave Edmunds (Rockpile).

Support comes from Paul Carrack (Squeeze/Mike and the Mechanics/Roxy Music) and Dublin’s own Meteor Award nominated Rockabilly singer Imelda May.

Carrick means ‘rock’ and on Saturday 29th the legendary rockers Status Quo will undoubtedly do just that. The ‘Quo have been part of the musical landscape since 1967 and have just completed a sell-out Greatest Hits tour, featuring songs like Whatever You Want and Rockin’ All Over the World.

Live favourites The Saw Doctors promise to bring raucous trad-rock to the Castle, while Hayseed Dixie will provide their unique bluegrass take on well-known heavy metal anthems. Tinn Lizzy are the ultimate tribute to the work of Phil Lynott and local boy Simon McBride opens the show with his virtuoso guitar work.

Tickets for Friday night are £38.00 (inc.bkg fee) while Saturday’s tickets are £44.00 (inc.bkg fee) and a 2 day ticket is available for £70.00 (inc.bkg fee)

All Tickets ON SALE TOMORROW AT 9am from ticketmaster.ie and geturticket.com

VIP packages and corporate hospitality are available on request. All enquiries to info@cdcleisure.com

LIVE AT THE CASTLE is set to be a major new addition to the Summer’s musical calendar and will be held this year as part of Carrickfergus Borough Council’s 60th Birthday celebrations.

Wouldn't mind seeing Jools again and that Imelda May is pretty good too, saw her on the late late show a few weeks ago.

The Saw Doctors are good craic live and the Thin Lizzy tribute band should go down well.

It these four were all on on the same night I might go, but I doubt if I'd go both nights. :(

Quo are great too for a bit of old-fashioned head banging & swinging you hair around the place :thumb2
(Sorry :aidan, forgot that's not something you can do anymore :p)
