Tried to fit TT bar risers but could not undo the bolts through the top yolk.

The hex heads are slightly tapered and the socket starts to jump before it undoes.

A right pain, as ended up reassembling everything so could use the bike.

Any suggestions?

I think you'll find ...

... the 'tapered' heads are in fact Torx bolts, for which you'll need a Torx socket, available at Halfords :comfort

No Torx fittings on the G Series XChallenges:D

It's a proper quality bike:augie

Use a good quality Hex Socket like Teng/Halfords Pro/Snap-On

Johnny is right, you need a better socket set. I've got Halfords Pro and have fitted bar risers no problem.

Take the bars out fix a bit of broom handle through the bar clamp. Locking pliers on the bolt head to hold it tight and then undo the clamps.

I managed to bend one of the bolts last Sunday so it won't now come through the sleeve :blast. Going to have to get a M10 x 55 bolt to replace it!

I fitted the risers, I'm 6'2" tall so I think it's best mod of the lot and well worth the effort.
