Imperial spanners better fit than metric!!

Folks,

My understanding of the F650GS (twin) manual is that all the nuts, bolts and fittings on the bike are metric.....correct?

Well, why is it that imperial spanners and sockets are a tighter fit? Look at the clutch cable adjustment for example: a 12mm is too small and a 13mm too big, but a 1/2 inch is perfect!! Another example is the rear axle: a 15/16 socket is a better fit than the 24mm socket!!!

And before someone says it....no its not just my toolkit.

Anyone else noticed this??

Ermm...

...it's warmer than Germany/UK where you are and the heat is expanding the nuts?:augie

They are metric, but I believe they are TORX design. ( Look it up on Wikipaedia for full explanation ) You can buy TORX spanners, and socket and they won't round off the nut.
