Some Toe-Rag broke into my garage last night and tried to steal my bikes.

Kawasaki KLX 250 was 10 yards down the road lying on the pavement. The ignition switch is smashed, but the steering lock held on - they must have got bored turning left and dropped it.

BMW GS is OK thank goodness.

So do you think I should be able to remove and replace the ignition/steering lock on the Kawasaki myself?

(Remember it is "locked" and I cannot unlock it now)

I would expect it is not possible to un-bolt the lock while it is locked - at least that is how I would have designed it.

This would save me having to get the bike collected and taken to the dealer and no doubt several hours of labour.
