Hi All,

Has anyone found a car mount with permanent power as opposed to the cig lighter power like the one that came with it? Dont mind the suction cup for the windscreen or the fact that the cable plugs in to the bracket but would like to hardwire the power etc.

Russell.

You need to find out whether the electrics for the device are dealt with:

(a) In the cigar plug thing?

(b) In the car cradle?

(c) Both?

If (b) you can chop it off and simply wire it into any suitably fused connection, as you do on a motobike.

If (a) or (c) procede with care.

Do not assume that you can do it on a motorbike, so you can do it in a car. Who knows what little secrets live where in the two cradles and fag lighter whatsit?

No doubt someone will take one apart before too long and tell us.

What we normally do is fit an "auxilary" cigar lighter out of sight behind trim, where ever it's suitable to run the cable out to the mount, and just plug your adapter into that. No probs with the voltage stepper (if fitted) and when you're flogging it on here for the new Zumo 770 you'll get more dosh for it than one with a few cut wires and an adapter you can't find:augie

Makes good sense, do you know where I can get the car mount and cable from?

Thanks,

Russell.
