I recently returned from a trip to Italy,I was accompanied by Adv Stu and a few friends as My Dad and his grandad fought at the battle for Monte Casino during WW11.The plan was to visit a few of the CWGC's initially and on the return journey go for a play on the roads in northern Italy with the Stelvio being the the Grand finale to the tour as none of the other's had been ridden it for some it was there first european tour.

The first photo is of the cemetery at Salerno

Sorry folk's having problems re sizing photo's of the Polish Cemetery and the Abbey itself.

There is a WW11 Museum in Casino which we found very interesting in it's telling of the 4 Battles that it took to capture the Abbey.Whilst there we had the pleasure of meeting with a veteran of the battle's at Casino a wee gentleman from Belfast who had fought with the 78th Division and he spoke of how he remembered it and the waste of lives.

We also visited the Beachhead CWGC at Anzio before we started our journey North (again having problems re sizing them)

A Word of Warning If you should visit Anzio or Naples leave nothing on yer bike as it won't be there when you get back,we did have a young lad try to lift an item of one of our bikes but thankfully was seen in time.

WE HAD BEEN WARNED BY A FELLOW ITALIAN BIKER WHEN HE ASKED WHERE WE WERE GOING,HE INFORMED US THAT HE AND HIS FRIEND'S TAKE THE TRAIN WHEN VISITING THESE TWO PLACES
