HI,can you help ???.

My daughter is looking up the family tree. but has got a little stuck, with a few, My great Grandad Jim Ancliff was born in Edinston Nottingham in 1860, married a Mary M.

If any one knows of the family, ANCLIFF can you PM me.

He's in the 1891 census. Living in Ogley Hay in Staffordshire. Married to Mary M with two kids Jim and Mark.

could it be Edwinstowe

Yep! thats what I thought. Found this reference from 1672:-

AN/PB 343/267 15.10.1672 Edwinstowe
Michaelmas 1672
Nothing to present.
Place name given as Edinston, altered to Edwinstowe.

Looks like you are looking for Edwinstowe Skippy. Near the Major Oak in Sherwood forest.

Rob you have been a great help, Sarah say's thankyou.

The son Mark was my Mum's dad, my grandad.
As an adult he was in the army, posted to India,was injured and sent to Hampshire where he meet my Nan, and stayed in New milton, for the rest of his life.
