Shock absorbers

Maxton or Penske might disagree with your claim!
The most important thing is though is set up.
If the compression & preload and spring rate suit your riding style then its the best shock (for you).
Spending close on £500 on a shock doesn't guarantee a good ride.

For me, if I rode the 20 odd miles to work through the lanes 'enthusiastically' the std 1150 shock would loose its damping about halfway. So I jumped at the opportunity of a nearly new Maxton shock when I found one for sale. This is an entirely different beast. Fully adjustable compression, rebound and preload (though only rebound while the unit is on the bike) and come built to order (shim stack and spring rate) too a very high standard. Its an awful lot better than the std shock and with some more adjustment I think i'll get it even better.
Slightly more than Ohlin though at £405 plus VAT
each.

I will be buying the Ohlins as soon as they become available for the 1200GS. I had them on my previous bike, an 1100S, and they were SPECTACULAR! Perfect compliance at all times.
