Got an Ohlins shock with an alloy fork on the bottom for an 1100.Would it be feasible to weld the alloy bottom from an 1150 shock onto it.Realise that shock would have to be dismantled/reassembled and that it safety critical part.Could it be done?,excuse my ignorance welding not my trade and the only mate I could ask is on holiday.Thank you people

Don't bother.Flog it on and get the proper job for the bike:thumb2

And before any text book expert replies, yes it can be done, but not worth it.

Don't do it - too much chance of distortion, even if welded by a professional.

You'd have to dismantle it/rebuild it anyway = ££££

As Vern says............. sell it.

Al :)

Thanks Vern, needed to know if it was possible/ safe.Mate used to weld for aeroplanes but aint going to ring him on holiday.Got a crazy plan involving 1100 with dead gearbox...Ta
