A word to the wise for anyone heading into Belgium this summer.
There are major roadworks planned around Antwerp which are expected to cause huge traffic problems. (It took me an hour and a half to drive just 40km at 23:30hrs last night)
Anyone heading up through Belgium from France will need to expect serious delays from Gent northwards and from the Dutch border southwards. If you can avoid Antwerp you should do so.
Heavy freight traffis is being diverted away from Antwerp from as far away as the French , German and Dutch borders. The rest of us will have to take our chances.
The following motorways will likely be affected in both directions:
E19 Breda(NL) via Antwerp through to France
E313 (BE) Antwerp to Liege
E17 Antwerp to Gent
E34 Antwerp to Bruges/Ostend/Calais
Keep this in mind in case you are planning a run up to the TT in Assen or are heading up this way for any other reasons.
Good luck
