bloody thing wouldnt start the other day,
it clicked, but no starter motor coming in, 12v was there but it didnt turn
no prob i thought, i got a spare, put it on, just the same, a click, but no starter:nenau
anyhows, checked the torque limiter, (the shaft linkin the motor to the ring gear on the flywheel, the limiter is the big gear wi small teeth, its really in a few pieces, similar to a clutch)and the limiter was on the p*ss by about 10 degree,s,
however, i had a spare :D
upon inspection, the rear circlip had fractured and then forced the front one out halfway also, it was an easy fix , except the rear is a special, you have to grind a normal circlip holes down a bit for it to fit,
this is the third one like this iv heard of, and they all repaired ok, so if your starter gets slow and then eventually stops like its knackered, dont buy a starter straight away,,, check the limiter 1st, its only 3 cross heads to get it out,
:thumb2
