Dave - did you fit the tank yourself? was it easy, any hints or tips? I have just got the same bike and thinking of buying the tank too.

Also any idea where to pick up a switched live for a GPS?

Cheers

David

Looks good Dave !

David J,

the Safari tank goes on quite easily.

Good instructions and it took me about 2 hours taking my time.

It fits better if tank is warm ish.

The fuel taps and sender etc transfer straight over and even the horn cut out is fine.

The only tricky bit is attaching the aluminium brace arrowed in photo below :

I struggled a bit as I was doing it on my own but get someone to help you for this bit as it's alot easier if someone pushed the sides in as you attach the brace.

Thanks Martin - for some reason I thought that you had had yours fitted by the dealer, which is why I hadn't asked you about the fitting :blast

Nah,he only fitted the Akras.

I did everything else. The mainstand was the bugger but I used a tool off kids trampoline to pull the springs.

Bracken normally have a Safari tank in stock or get hold of Alec at Core Racing as he's the importer.

Dave.

Be careful with that sump guard.

They are supposedly like cheese and give no protection to the side stand being ripped off and destroying the engine,as has happened to a number of guys on Advrider.

That's why I fitted the Black Dog jobby as it is built like a brick shit house.

( Not that my SE has seen much dirt yet !! :augie)

Yep as Arsey said not difficult to fit if you take your time. The tanks are very well made and useall the fittings from the origional tank.

The brace was a bit of a fiddle and needed a bit of 'adjustment'

Hopefully I have a blackdog bashplate coming :thumb

I wired my GPS direct to the battery.

I did the Cambrian and the Ryedale on mine you'll find the big tank a pain to heavy when fueled to max for competition you can refuel each lap :thumb2

Would also recommend rim locks front and rear you will get tyre creep when using a 950 SE in anger :D

And plus one for the blackdog bashplate :clap

I also got rid of the side stand they have been know to wreck engine casings when they hit a rock in deep ruts :eek I fitted a center stand and bypass switch center stand is a life saver when mending punctures :thumb2

Enjoy :D
