My Zumo 550 which I have been happy with has just decided not to switch on either from the Battery, on the Bike or in the Car, its out of warranty. I have the bike and car wired to take it.

Question

Get another 550 and gain a second mount for the 100GSPD (maybe get the other repaired)
Go for a 660 or Tom Tom.

I need to be able to load Topo Maps and navigate off road.

I will need it in about 3 weeks so repair may not be feasible

Have you tried taking the battery out - and then replacing it back from whence it came ?

When mine failed in Alaska, just taking the battery out of its compartment and then re installing did the trick...

Mine was showing all the symptoms you describe...

Hope it works

Garmin do an excellent fixed price repair service.

Costs about £65 IIRC.

I used it, and had a replacement back within about 3 days.

Same happened to me on Friday. Called garmin and got returns number. Sent it off and should get new replacement this week. £108 standard repair/exchange.
