Was out for a spin on my 02 r1150gs today. As I approached a roundabout at approx 50mph I changed down from 5th to 4th while doing this the engine cut out completely. Fortunately I was able to coast around the roundabout and over onto the hard shoulder. All the usual lights were lit on the panel ie battery, abs. I turned the key off and back on again and the engine started immediately. I continued on for another 40 miles braking and changing gear without any problems. The bike has 26,000 miles on the clock and was recently given full 24,000 mile service by BMW dealer. Being left suddenly without power is a dangerous situation and not one I want to repeat. Any ideas on what the problem is would be appreciated.

Regards
Niall

Hi NBJC,
Just a quick thought have you checked the base of your ignition
assembly as it is cable tied to the frame, could be broken as you turn the handle bars and makes contact on the straight, well worth a look.

plenty of info on here to resolve

Best regards Mack....
