1159gs gear swich

Hi Lads, I bought a 99 1159gs just at the end of last year, the bike has a few faults (1) the bike wont start with the side stand down, (2) the neutral light doesn't work (3) the gear selection on the dash doesn't work, I'm hoping that these are all connected to the switch at th back of the gearbox been faulty, I got the bike cheap (1800euros) because of these faults, (switch 55euros), Is it a big job to change the switch. That's not a fault, that's a 'feature'

At least on my 1100.

my 1150 was the same for 3 years.
never bothered me
New sidestand switch fitted and nothing changed.
New gear indicator switch fitted and nothing changed.
the only other thing is the clutch switch [by the clutch lever]
sold it in the end,with the same fault.
gear indicator switch----
tank off,tailpipe off,catpipe off
take switch off and trace the wiring through the frame.
when putting new one on ,put a zip tye around the switch circlip and when the new switch is in place cut zip tye and the circlip thingy will relocate and hold switch in.
[give the area a good clean b4 fitting new switch]
