Headin to MEM in June and gonna hopefully tag on a few days on a rental, anyone have any recommendations for good area or even direction for a two day jaunt from downtown Memphis...:thumb

Was there 2 years ago. Memphis is great, especially Bealle street at night. Sun studios definitely worth a visit. Graceland was okay. I managed to take in a basketball game, the Memphis grizzlies, highly recommended even if you’re not into sport. The Gibson factory was enjoyable.

I took a greyhound bus from Memphis to Nashville and rented a car there, very interesting trip. The bus stopped for a break in Jackson where 3 recently released prisoners where seen onto the bus by prison guards, of course one of them set beside me. After the bus got going again the conversation with him and everyone around me turned to the different prisons everyone had been in, I think I was the only one on the bus that had never been to gaol. All nice people to talk to though.

Enjoyed the country music bars in Nashville but it wasn’t what I was expecting. Went to a football game there, again highly recommended, even if like me you haven’t a clue what’s going on, it takes up the whole day but well worth it.

Have to say I really enjoyed Memphis. And they all go mad for the Dub/ Irish accent.:aidan

BB Kings and the rib places are good on the Beale.
Eat the catfish.
Gracelands if you are into it...Been 3 times now.
Sun Studios.

If you want a good hotel, the best in Memphis is the Peabody.

Try not to use hole in the wall cash machines.

Check out what concerts are on on Mud Island while you are there..It is an amazing place to see bands live in the open air.

Check out what they have on at the Pyramid too.

The Casinos in Mississippi are only an hour and a half away by car and are larger and more exciting than any I have been to in Vegas:thumb2

If you hire a bike, go up to the Ozarks, twisty roads, beautiful landscapes and caves.

All the steam boats are diesel powered:thumb

Have a good time and try not to wander into the welfare project areas, they do not take prisoners.

......Oh yeah, the above poster is right about Nashville, unless it is Christmas time, then the Old Oprey is something else.

Listen to Att, I did, and had ann awesome night.

Have a look at my ride report. Coming up Bilko`s Rear.
