Hi all,

Bought a CCM 404 DS, mostly for the SM riding so put the off road wheels into a corner of the garage and forgot about 'em. Shift to present day and I'm looking to do a bit of green laning and general muddy play. Took out the wheels and found a sort of fix come weld bit on the front rim, also can see a few dings etc.

Being an absolute novice about this type of thing is my front wheel now in need of a new rimor is this type of thing normal?

Picco's below...

Any help/advice much appreciated.

Will be fine for off road, just keep an eye on it..and if the tyre goes flat the weld is not flush to the bead on the tyre..

Sorry, been away for a bit.

The rim is a bit dented and am looking to get a new one fitted or a 2nd hand one but I'm a bit confused about the loss of air, do you mean the weld may punture the tube or....?

Weld will not be / may not be flush with the existing 'sealing' area required to facilitate an airtight seal. if you seal what I mean.:D,

rim

airtight seal , its got a tube in just get on and ride it. if it looks bad stop . unless you strip the tyre off and have it welded on the inside ? use common sense ffs.

Its imperative to have the surface on the inside of rim clean and smooth, if the weld has sharp edges grind them down...the tube could be old and cracked..yes you can ride it with a hole in the side but dirt will soon fill inside your tyre and puncture the tube...
And to be sure tape some gaffer tape 2 layers around the inside where the spokes nipples are fixed...these can be abrasive to the inner tube also..

I have seen worse...:thumb2
