Weather in October Romania and Bulgaria

At last work has allowed a two week trip to Bulgaria and I am wondering what the weather is like travelling down through Romania into Bulgaria or would the ferry from Italy be a better idea. My original idea was Down through Romania and back up the coast through Montenegro and Croatia

it can be really nice riding weather... not too hot - not too cold. Worth packing a set of thermals just in case though.
Can tell Autumn is on the way now....
