Adventure Crash Bars

Dripped into the dealers today,
enquireing about ADV bars to go on my GS1150 the price of the ADV sump guard £50 inc vat
ADV crash bars £459 inc vat

So if anyone is ordering their new ADV dont forget your bars
as they will only cost £199 if they are factory fitted.

£459 for the ADV bars?????? Another bad joke from BMW!!! A bit like charging an extra £250 for the bigger tank option, even though the cost of the 2 tanks is very similar, or ordering an 1100S, asking for the high screen and bars option, and having to pay £125 for it!!

What about panniers? as i am thinking of getting an adventure would it also be worth getting the panniers with it too.
The engine bars seem a must then, but what about panniers ?
I know i will need them so are they any good? plastic/metal?

Gates,

have a careful look at the hinges on the boxes - I saw them at the NEC and thought they looked about as strong as chocolate. I wouldn't be planning any kind of adventurous trip with those bags fitted.....

Yes i did notice the hinges but for the money i don't think they're
to bad compared with H + B and alike, if i were going on a RTW
trip i'd beef up the hinges.

Just ordered some fitted with my new Adventure + many extras inc the protection bars and managed to get 5% chipped off ALL the extras and there were quite a few of them!!!

OH! Did i mention Twin Spark!!
