Any of you guys got any ideas on cleaning the silver Roughcast cases on the XR1200? they stain easy,not sure if any of the other models have this finish on the engine cases but be interested if anyone has any tips on what to use. mucho gras....

Maybe worth a shot,dont want to put anything there thats gonna stain,must be someone whos come up against the problem,but thanks SP for the suggestion.

Are they bare aluminium or crinkle finish powder coat?

I think they are powdercoat Mutts,love the finish just a bastard to clean,im tryin to learn about these bikes as i go,all new to me,Mutts if i remove the Derby cover on the primary case will oil piss out? im guessing yes but thought maybe its just a bling item screwed to the case.It could do with a polish....need to get a manual for this puppy..

The crinkle finish on engine cases is a bastard to clean. You have to work Muck Off or similar in with a brush

No idea about Sportster engines I'm afraid but I'm guessing not on the Derby cover as I thought they were wet sump so it should drain below that level?
