They make some nice bikes with simple and subtle changes.

I agree but unfortunately they are extremely expensive :blast

I'm sure they are, however looking at bikes like these give you ideas on how you may do something yourself. Wider bars, black rims, trimmed rear end, slightly different lights ... just little things.

This original is nice, on Dartmoor

Bikes 1 and 2 , very nice indeed. Bike 2 is a real humdinger - love to get my mitts on that one!

I wonder if I'm too old for bedroom posters? :augie

Something like this may suit me as a next bike. In Biketrader at the moment at under £3k and a good bike to have a little fiddle with.
However still like the idea of an older Bonnie and another airheads not out of the question either.

^^ Think my next bike is going to be something along these lines, like Triumphs and the idea of Brit bike ownership again, classic styling, able to find a 7 or 8 year old bike for the right price and then fettle and tinker with it over the winter. Got a company in North Devon who will do the wheels, a powder coating company 200 yards from home and the Mecatwin bits and bobs aren't too pricey.

Binning the standard rear mudguard seems to be the biggest improvement on the Bonnys. £82 from Norman Hyde https://normanhyde.co.uk/hinckley-triumph/rear-mudguard.html

I was working with a chap a couple of years ago who had one. I couldn't figure out why it looked so much better than a standard. He'd fitted one inch high Ikon shocks and a Hyde rear mudguard.

Seems a shame to then have to put a bloody great reg plate on it...

I agree and fitted with an old style rear light and small indicators it really makes a difference.

Just fit a small one.

Also an older style slightly chunky tyre tread pattern looks better.
Sat on one today with the western bars which felt good and looked better.
Lots of small easy mods that really change a standard bike.

scrambler

This started out as a standard Scrambler .The rear mud guard is standard classic The carbs gives it some zip and after owning a GS 1150 for over 10 years its a blast to ride especially in town .The tank range is an issue for touring . Still looking for a small cable driven speedo if anybody knows.
