So I'm reviving my front brake master cylinder. Everything is going well except I can't get the damn old one out... I have no air tools/compressor. I've tried a bicycle pump to no avail... any other ideas ... how about a self tapping screw?

THis is the stuck bit...

I may be wrong, but don't you push it in to reveal a circlip?

yes it is... should have been more clear on that opps! '97 1100gs.

Ah, just the screw retaining it then....back to the drawing board with bits of wood, a screwdriver and pliars:D

push it as far in as you can with a screwdriver, and try and clean off all the crap that has built up in the corroded area, spray some contact cleaner in, and work the piston in and out, each time it stops, push it in and re clean.you are pushing against a spring,so it will move both ways, did it a couple of months ago on my '97 RT

GOod idea.... I had previously duct taped the outside to stop the small weep... as I didn't want to fix it as it was only going to be in the garage for a few months.... bollix :blast I've learned my lesson!

OH... and don't fix your brakes with duct tape!
