Hello all, I joined yesterday and thanks to silliness on my part have only just been able to post this.
Thirty five years ago, my father told me I ought to buy a BMW bike as he rode one but then I was in thrall to multi cylinder Jap stuff so didn't. I have finally taken his advice and tomorrow train up to Essex to pick up my new 800 GS with all ally luggage. Can't wait. My father bought one of the first R100 RS and had to put up with comments like 'how could anyone spend £3,000 on a bike'! He and my mother then toured all over Europe on it with no break downs, punctures etc. I recently dug out a pic of them setting off for France and Spain, just two thin Krauser panniers and an Adidas bag bungeed on to the top. How things have changed, I could probably pack all they took into one pannier. Anyway I look forward to many deep and meaningful conversations with you all.
