I'm working in yerkshire this week, and possibly through to the end of July, I'm just on the outskirts of York on the road to malton.

Are there any local events on? I'm in the van this week but hoping to suss it out so that I can come up on the bike next time.
 
Not an event but if you get chance the railway museum at York is a good day out.

2 good venues to meet other people on an evening are Squires café at Sherburn, and Seaways café at Fridaythorp,
From Malton Seaways is more local, lots of bikers, and usually friendly.
Squires is always busy but it not my favourite.
Scarborough sea front is a nice evenings ride and lots going on. A great ride from Malton is to Helmsley market place, not much going on but lots of variety in the ride.

Bikers meet at Helmsley town square most times when the suns out, its a nice run out from York via the B1363. Helmsely also one end of the so called Helmsey/Stoksley TT via the B1257, watch out for mobile speed cams, just enjoy the scenery.
Gilling East on the B1363 has a miniature live steam railway that runs Sundays I think, little cafe there too.

Good fish and chip at Thompsons restaurant at the Hazelbush on the A64

Fimber cabin (cafe) open Wed to Sun and B/Hols as far as I remember (Map)

Seaways biker cafe at Fridaythorpe very close by to Fimber

Good fish and chips at Wetwang, close to the two above cafes...
