Black Forest
Great wee place in the south of the forest and good to use as a touring base is "Wolfach"
Plenty of pubs and places to eat and a few shops if you need that sort of thing.
For good quailty reasonably priced accommodation try the Konigs Hotel,also has secure parking.

Heidelburg is well worth a visit to see the spectacular castle and old town. We stayed at the Ibis next to the railway station.
Depending which ferry crossing you're using, you can combine the Black Forest with the Eifel mountains (Nurburgring), Mosel valley and Rhine gorge.

Not sure if you were thinking of camping. Great roads, Konditorei, cafes and restaurants.
Freiburg nearby.. market worth a visit, good shops
plenty of easy parking. Great biking roads all around the Schwartzwald also easy ride to Switzerland.
People very helpful/friendly.

Freiburg is nice, as is Strasbourg en-route. Go through the Vosges Mountains east of Strasbourg to reach the Black Forest, even better.
I know of a bike friendly hotel in Strasbourg with secure garages if you fancy visiting.
