My youngest daughter, and her boyfriend, are clearing off to go travelling for a year. Essentially the far east and Australasia. They will be flying and using public transport as and when. The subject of travel insurance has now raised it's head.

Has anyone here any first hand knowledge of ‘gap year’ travel insurance ? Specialist brokers, web sites, good/bad experiences ?.....What do the RTW guys do ?, The Hub/Lonely Planet/Feck it ?.....:nenau

Any input very much appreciated.....Thank you......:)

Snowcard are excellent, especially if they are doing some "adventure" stuff - they even insured my mate to fly to the top of a mountain in an ex-Russian military helicopter and snowboard down a Ural mountain. Not sure which was the riskiest, going up or coming down.

'wessie'....Thank you for your input....:thumb2

I checked their web site and it appeared that they would only provide a maximum of 61 days of cover. I then rang them and this was confirmed.

Thanks anyway.....:)
