GMT Moto light mounts for 1200GS

Yes, they look very nice, but $150 to mount two lights is just silly. It seems to me that folks have lost the plot somewhat. I'd quite like to mount some Hellas on my 1200, but there's no way I'm paying £75 to do it.

GMTMoto mounts..

You guys are way too fast to judge a product by pricing alone.

All accessories need not be expensive but when the items are very well engineered and built to take a beating(I can lift the front end of the GS off the ground by these mounts) they are worth the extra few bucks.

Our GS's are not cheap by any means and the accessories that we mount to them should not always have to be "penny tech".

thanks,
Andrew

Not at all. Like I said, they look very nice and having consulted a friend who operates a CNC machine, I know that amount of work that's gone into them. But....the function which they serve, i.e. mounting two lamps just does not warrant that sort of expenditure, especially when I picked up a pair of Hellas for considerably less than that.

Did you read my thread posted a couple of months back - "cheap ass light bar mark 2"? :D Materials cost was about £15, and now I have a design I suppose I could make another in 3 hours or so.

The light mounts posted in this thread look a lot like a commercialised version of gazza's clamps - and he was selling those at £70 I believe.

(edit - my light bar thread is here: http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37645

I searched for "cheap ass" in the 1200 section and all the threads found were started by me. Can't imagine why :D )

Moto lights are very cool

Andrew is right. These are worth it! I have looked at a lot of lights and these are high quality for high quality bikes. In the end, you will always be glad that you got them, no regrets.

Two things:-

1) Yes indeed they are very well made and the attention to detail is truly fantastic.

2) BUT by the time the VAT man, the Customs man and Parcel Force man have taken thier chunk, they will cost you £130 a pair in the UK.

Now tell me that they are worth it?

And yes I do know that as being a true and accurate cost, coz I have just bought some.

Price

They look kinda neat to me and any investment would hopefully improve ride safety at night.

As for the price, we have to accept there is an R&D cost to recuperate which has to gained through the margin on a product.

Furthermore compare the price with an R1200GS lifting handle - nuff said.
