This is the bike my Brother had when he was 16 which is a 1988 AF1 50. Unfortunately my Brother passed away some years ago and now i have the space and some spare cash i really want to restore it. I actually stripped and rebuilt the engine about 18 years ago (when i was 15!) as i thought i was going to use it on the road, but a year passed and i got the AF1 125 instead. It's has been sat there ever since. The first pic is what its meant to look like, the other are out the shed on Sunday. I'm really struggling to find any info on this bike. A workshop manual would be a dream come true, but there were a few different models around 1988-1990 and I'm struggling to research what engine this should be. Someone has pointed me in the direction of the Derbi GPR 75, which appears to share almost everything bar the engine and there are plenty of parts available, but 99% of them in Spain. There is a chap on ebay with some bodywork, but o need handlebar controls, wiring loom, engine components etc. I contacted Motori Di Marino in West Chiltington, who i though specialised in Italian bikes but they couldn't help me at all. :blast

I thought it was worth asking on here, if anyone had one, or could point me in the direction of parts / manuals. Thanks!

Crikey fella, you have your work cut out with that one,
Best of luck with your quest:comfort
I have a feeling your search for parts will end up in Spain or Italy,
I have some friends that live south of Turin, there next door neighbor has his own bike repair workshop,he speaks reasonable English .
I'll see if I can get some contact details ,but don't hold your breath.:thumb

Thanks! That would be great although, I appreciate its a long shot :D

A good place for free manuals is www.pdfmotomanual.com

Try other languages - the Use and Maintenance (owner's?) handbook is listed for AF1 50 but in Italian. Lots of other 50 engines - including workshop manuals - in English (scroll to near the bottom of the page).

HTH

Now this could be totally wrong.
But it bears a striking resemblance to a Suzuki RG50 engine. To me :nenau .
Or maybe you could get this engine in that frame?

Have a look - and if you like i'll ask about over here. We did get some weird and wonderful Bikes imported to Ireland.
The Aprilia RS50 was relatively common (til the owners blew them all up!) / but that's not the same.
ANYhow - take a look at this.
Good Luck. :thumb2
