That document actually says that motor sport use is inconsistent with land that is "in agricultural use". I suspect it's more to do with stopping farmers claming subsidies while renting out their land for other purposes, or some such.

Yes, but if you believe MCN, it means that if you have a farm and move all the sheep off the North Mountain for even one weekend to run a trials event on it, and then let the sheep back on to it to carry on grazing, it's no longer eligible for any EU subsidies at all under this ruling. Since pretty much all the farming in e.g. Wales is only economically viable at all on the back of subsidies, for example, it means the end of any event that uses agricultural land. And that's pretty much the whole of Wales that doesn't have buildings on. Whether it applies to forrestry I don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me.

The government gets to keep half of all the subsidies that they disallow, which means they will skew the rules in their favour as much as possible.

Based on the EU directive on the new Single Payment scheme, Motosport is allowed on farmland claiming subsidy on it for all the other countries in EU............it's only New Labour that has slipped this clause in that Motosport is incompatible in the countryside in UK to outlaw it.............by stealth

B*stards.................

They have created exemptions under the 14/28 day rule for carboots/countryshows/claypigeon shoots/dog trials etc...........so only motosport is singled out and doesn't now enjoy the 14/28 day rule it currently enjoys.

So no trials/enduro's/mx/car rallying....................vote the tw*ts out on May 5th

This will end Motosport as we know it...............trials will be held in quarries etc

Revolution anyone?

All well and good saying vote the bastards out (I aggree) but who is going to look after us any better?

We are all :eek::eek::eek:ed even worse than before.
You can't wipe your arse in this country without the government telling how to do it.
Wat Tyler had the right idea........but look what happened to him!

Not read up on this at all so may be asking a SFQ.. So could this mean a kick in the nuts for rallying at all levels? Surely the RAC MSA will kick up a stink if they try it on with the Rally of GB (albeit currently a shadow of its former self)? :nenau

If they can award drug-addict prisoners compo :)spitfire) under the Human Rights legislation, surely someone can bend that silly stuff to prevent another freedom going the way of others? :eek

It's simple.

It's Labour. They specialise in pointless bits of nanny legislation that, in every way, every day, make things a little more unpleasant for everyone. It's all for our own good of course.

They don't seem to have understood that the Law of Unintended Consequences exists. Or if they do, they don't give a toss.

Not saying the Blue Labour or the LibDems would be any better mind you. I deal with 'em all enough in the day job - and it scares me. Ten years ago there were a few politicos with brains and a few ethics. Now? Don't even get me started. Some of them are so stupid they need 240 volts through them just to order a coffee.
