Just bought a new Khyam tent, the Khyam Biker, and the instructions say to seal all the stitched seams before using the tent.

I was in the process of doing this when I noticed that the seams look like they have been 'welded' already. Does anyone know if you really do need to seal the seams on these tents?

My biker didn't need sealing. Used it three times, pissed it down three times. No leaks :)

It's worth doing.

The seal will get into any weak areas. It's preventative maintenance.

Worth doing once a year as part of your tent's 'service' then you'll never get any unexpected surprises.

That's assuming that by 'seal' we are talking about a waterproofing treatment and not ironing over the stiches...

:)

Sealed mine when i got it - easier to do at home, than find out in the pissing rain that it leaks ;)

I sealed it, but didn't leave it up, just chucked in the shed loose for a couple of days to cure .
