read through several explanations of wiring in of relays to an R1200GS. Here's my question: Why run a wire from that little green and blue wire near the diagnostics plug to act as the switch for a relay instead of just tapping that wire for your main power source. In other words, will there be a problem if I'm hard wiring in a radar detector and tap the green and blue wire for my main power source, thus having ignition key activated power without a relay and not having to connect directly to the battery at all?
I just mounted a Garmin Quest, without any hardwiring and an Escort 8500 that is hardwired into the green and blue wire. But before I find out i've cooked the ECM or something unforseen to me...I figured I'd check here, see if anyone had any ideas. I'll post some photos later of the completed install if anyone is interested at all...
