Looked at your shots on smugmug, nice.
Where was the above photo taken was it at the same rally. Take it they are both R75s or is the one on the right a zundapp?

Any chat from the owners about where they were from, bike history etc?

Hi,
Same place!
I only realised later that they do not have leading-link forks and the heads are not side-valve so they must be "modern" imitations. There is a couple of levers on the side of the tank, presumably the drive to the sidecar wheel and maye a reverse gear.
Wonder if they could be Urals?

I had a brief chat but nothing detailed. They were only there for a lunch stop, as was I having ridden down from Dublin and needing to be back again. PJ would know more. Bloody good fun and you would really admire the lads who keep the kit going.

Just noticed the bwm badge on the chair mudguard on both bikes, so I guess they are post-war, late 50's ?

They were more advanced than a lot of folks think. I used to have the specs somewhere will try to dig them out. Check this out for 1941.

R75 looks the job, fair play to the two boys for getting out and about on them!

Wish I had seen them ... found the specs here not bad for old timer kit :)

Alte's Dream

Hi Bin Ridin

The last photo posted by Alte is his dream combination complete with Spandau (convinced he was Rommel in another life) :D as i said brill photos earlier in the year we came across a classic bike rally in the Alps it was great to see them still on the road doing the same job as our modern ones.

Interesting photo Jimmy, did it say in the book what model the bikes were. They look a little like R 35s.
