small Luggage Broken Bit help

can anyone advise how the hell I fix this without it breaking again? it snapped when the lid opened with my crash helmet in it. It is the press stud strap fitting on the lid from the larger touring sized lid on standard BMW system panniers for my 1100GS. Any ideas?

Yeah, mine bust 3 years back. I used a bit of twisted wire to join the parts back together.
