Has anyone got any experience of shipping their bike (in a container or similar) to Iceland (or anywhere). What are the best companies to contact? Any idea on prices?
Advice needed a.s.a.p. please.

Try contacting Zwerver - he took his bike up there a while back.
I went there once without the bike and wished I had the bike - it's amazing up there. Good luck

Ferry to Iceland

In 1998 we went by ferry;
The trip by ferry took 6 days, left Hanstholm on saturday, arrived at Torshavn on monday morning. Stayed there until wednesday
afternoon. On fridaymorning we arrived at Seyðisfjörður
The trip back was 52 hours, with just a short stop at Torshavn.
Nowadays there's a new ferry, the Norrona II, and I have heard there's another stop at the Shetland Islands.

SMYRIL LINE:

The Faroe Islands' Smyril Line operates a weekly passenger-and car-ferry service during summer from Bergen in Norway and Hanstholm in Denmark to Lerwick in Shetland Islands, the Faroe Islands and Seyðisfjörður in Iceland.

Thanks mate, but I've already done the ferry thing...... it's the days sitting on the boat that I'm trying to avoid. I want to send the bikes on ahead in a container and then fly up to meet them - thus saving almost a week of fannying about which could be spent on the road (or off the road!) in Iceland.
Thanks for your help anyway,
Martin
