Magnetic Drain Plugs

Short on pulling my drain plugs out and having a look, can anybody tell me if the ones fitted to the gearbox and engine are of the magnetic type?

I believe they are on 1100's but not on 1150's. Steptoe told me once but i've forgot. I'm sure he'll be along soon to tell me i'm talking crap

1150 final drive has a magnetic plug, gearbox does not, can not remember about engine sump plug

Only final drive has magnetic plug as standard on 1150 -

As Mr Whatton has mentioned, the 1100 has one fitted to the gearbox as well.


Although my 1150 gearbox has a magnetic plug fitted - but thats because it's mine, and i'm a smart arse

I have several rare earth magnets, 11mm dia by 3mm. Is there enough clearance for them to attach to the various drain plugs? I guess they could be epoxied in position if there was any concern about them going AWOL (they can be bought quite cheaply on eBay)
