Hi

Am studying maps for summer trip. Would welcome thoughts on feasibility of 8 day return trip to Tatra mountains (e.g. Zakopa Slovakia). Looks fab on the web but a long way east.
Anyone done similar and can advise?

Presently my feeling is it is not a go-er unless I can wrangle 2 weeks.

Cheers y'all

It's easily achievable in 8 days round trip. I've been a few times to Slovakia and the Slovak Tatras near Jasna (a bit of a sad sight in summer when there's no skiing) but by one of the highest peaks in the area called Chopok.

I've always accessed the area via Brno and Trencin and Zilina, this route is okay. Scenery is pretty good and of course it is cheap for us rich westerners.

When I stayed in Jasna I stayed in the youth hostel, although it was a ski hostel in reality. It was cheap for YHA members and much more for "private" guests sharing the same type of accommodation!

Thanks for that.
Will get planning with biker buddy.
striking when you look at the map how mountains stretch all the way from Nice to the Black sea. Gotta be a good ride that, eh?
