Still Fuel light prob

Well we have changed the tank pump/reader unit and stuck one in from an Adventurer tank , the contact slider was changed as it was different (due to the larger tank) and it seemed to work outside tank.Now inside tank the petrol warning light went off but only 2 bars were showing.Question is..........should it be ok to use the Adventurer unit in a straight 1150GS ?
