I wonder if anyone knows if there is an issue with the XR Honda petrol tanks going porous?
It's a plastic tank and 14 years old - can plastic go porous? I've put a couple of stickers on it as it was bare plastic but they have wrinkled and when I remove them you can smell petrol in the adhesive of the sticker. The bike sits in my garage and I'm not getting any petrol smells day to day.
Do you think it's just contamination of the plastic from 14 years of spillage or is there a problem?

Ta for any help
Sherpa ;)

ALL Plastic Motocross and XR tanks are porous from the day they are made, that is why pukka Motocross graphics are full of loads of little holes to allow the vapour to escape and stop the graphics lifting.
Thats why you cann't paint them because the paint just blebs up.
It never effects the bikes in daily use and doesn't cause leaks.
I've had Honda, Acerbis and Clarkes tanks and they have all done it.
