Ok - so I ask more questions than I provide answers. I know the answers really and am just playing ignorant for the benefit of less knowledgeable members. So for those Serow owners who can't find the spec of oil listed in the manual in Halfords and don't know whether it should be synthetic/mineral etc, and are thinking that the £6.99 stuff for 5 litres in Lidls is fine, I invite other Serow owners and interested parties to pass comment. I of course know what to use and am merely facilitating discussion.

Try looking here....

Its a Yamaha XT225 - supposedly a great beginners trail riding bike as it is lightweight and not too powerful, yet very reliable. In a shootout a couple of years ago, Chris Walker chose the Serow as his favourite I seem to remember. Can be had for less than a grand.

Ah ... a lack of answers ... I would put nothing less than fully synth if hammering it off road ... I used to stick Castrol R4 in my TTR250 ... or Silkolene Comp 4 but its a bit harder to find...

The poor little things only hold a spoonfull ... gotta keep 'em sweet...
